There is bad news for all Resident Evil 4 Remake fans as there is a game-breaking bug that prevents you from receiving a certain key item (Luis’ Key) in Chapter 12 and thus not being able to complete the story. The good news is that the error only occurs under very specific conditions that you can easily avoid if you know what’s going on. In this article, we will tell you how to fix this RE4 Remake bug.
How to Avoid Resident Evil 4 Remake Chapter 12 (Luis’ Key) Bug
If you have not obtained Luis’ Key at the start of Chapter 12 in Resident Evil 4 Remake, you will have to reload the saved game data from before the start of Chapter 12. Another fix is to refrain from attacking with your knife until the notification for obtaining this item can be seen in the upper right of the screen.
Capcom has recently tweeted about the bug, apologized for the circumstances, and said that they were already working on a solution. The development team has also revealed exactly what you have to do to ensure that the same RE4 Remake bug does not occur with you.

When can the bug occur?
At the beginning of the 12th chapter in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
What happens at this point?
The chapter begins with a cutscene. Immediately afterwards, you have a key in your inventory, which is the subject of the cutscene.
In which case can the error occur at this point?
When you wave your knife around. But that is not necessary at all at this point. So, try to keep your fingers away from the pad until a notification pops up in the top right corner of the screen letting you know that you have received the key item. If you stab too early, you may simply not receive the key item, which in this case is Luis’ Key.
After the message has appeared, you can easily check in your briefcase whether this key item is actually in your inventory. You won’t find it in the consumables but in the Treasures and Key Items tab.
Capcom also announced in the tweet that they would use the fix to ensure that you can continue playing if the bug has already occurred and you want to continue playing on your save without reloading again.
