Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 Delayed, CD Projekt RED Confirms

You have to wait longer than expected for the patch 1.2 planned for Cyberpunk 2077. It should not be submitted until March of this year. According to the company, the most recent cyber attack is responsible for the postponement.

After the launch disaster last year, which almost halved the market value of CD Projekt, the developers are working flat out to improve Cyberpunk 2077 with updates. But the patch release is apparently not going smoothly either. As the company announced today, patch 1.2, which was due to appear in February, had to be delayed to March.

Among other things, the recent cyber attack on the studio’s IT infrastructure is responsible for the delay. But the planned scope of the update also makes it necessary to postpone the release. The developers need additional time.

“While we dearly wanted to deliver Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the timespan we detailed previously, the recent cyber attack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and extensive scope of the update mean this unfortunately will not happen — we’ll need some additional time,” said CD Projekt Red.

“Our goal for Patch 1.2 goes beyond any of our previous updates. We’ve been working on numerous overall quality improvements and fixes, and we still have work to do to make sure that’s what you get. With that in mind, we’re now aiming for release in the second half of March,” continues CD Projekt. “It’s not the news we enjoy sharing, but we want to make sure we launch this update properly. Stay tuned for more information as the time draws closer. Thank you for your continued patience and support.”

After several delays, Cyberpunk 2077 came onto the market in mid-December 2020. While the PC version was quite impressive and was distributed specifically to the testers by CD Projekt, the console versions were in such poor condition that Sony took the title from the PlayStation Store and offered refunds.

Cyberpunk 2077 makes a better impression on the new PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, even if the explicitly developed new-gen version will only be launched on the market at a later date.
