Twitter is now rolling out a new feature called “unmention” for everyone, which lets anyone to remove themselves from a toxic conversation that includes their Twitter Handle. The social media platform first introduced this feature to a few people last April, but now it is available to everyone. If you are wondering how to use this feature, then in this article, I will tell you how to unmention yourself on the Twitter threads.

After a test phase in April, Twitter announces that everyone can leave a conversation by deleting mentions. It will be interesting depending on the situation. You can easily use the unmention feature on Twitter if you are quoted in a toxic conversation or if you do not want to get any kind of notifications for a thread you no longer want to be part of.

Once you remove the mention of your username/account on Twitter, then it will stop notifications for the thread and will also not let anyone in the thread to tag you again.

Follow the steps given below to remove your mentions from a Twitter thread:

    • First, open a Twitter thread in which you are mentioned with your username.
    • Select the three small dots and choose the option of “Leave this conversation”.
    • Finally, tap on the Leave option again to confirm your selection. No one else will be then able to mention you again (or your username) in the same thread again.

Note: The option of “Unmention” on Twitter may not appear to you yet because it is being rolled out to everyone. But don’t worry, it won’t be long.

There are also some other features that will arrive later on Twitter and are currently in testing. One of them allows you to post a tweet with two authors. There is also a rating system that allows you to post the equivalent of articles, without having the 280-character limit for tweets. The rating system can be reminiscent of Medium and other blog equivalents.

That is all you need to know about how to unmention yourself from a Twitter thread. While you are here, check out our other guides on How to Fix the ‘Nothing to See Here’ Error on Twitter, and How to Get Verified on Twitter.
