As the developers of Daedalic Entertainment admitted, the players will have to wait a little longer before they can explore the magical world of Middle-earth with Gollum. The release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been now delayed to 2022.
Originally, the stealth action-adventure The Lord of the Rings: Gollum should be released later this year for the consoles and the PC. As the responsible developers at Daedalic Entertainment admitted in a current statement, nothing will come of this project.
Instead, the company decided to postpone the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum until the coming year. However, the studio did not give any specific reasons for the circumstances that led to the postponement of the fantasy adventure.
In addition to the postponement of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Daedalic Entertainment announced that a co-publishing contract with the publisher Nacon has been concluded. This partnership is intended to support the developers in their plan to meet the expectations of the fans with the title and to exhaust the technical potential of the new consoles.
As the name of the title suggests, you take control of Gollum and should get to know the mysterious creature from a whole new perspective. Due to his constitution, Gollum is of course unable to assert himself against Sauron’s henchmen and other opponents. Therefore, a large part of the gameplay consists of classic stealth deposits.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is in development for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
We are forming a fellowship with @Daedalic to publish The Lord of the Rings™: Gollum™.
The game will be released in 2022 on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC.
