With the rising number of copies sold within a few days of its release, Palworld is undoubtedly the most popular indie game. As you progress with this Pokemon-like game, you must complete your Paldeck comprising all the Pals. Being a survival game, many players wonder if the Palworld maps are random and procedurally generated. For those that don’t know what it means, it automatically generates the map as you play. This has been used in many games like Starfield, Minecraft, Terraria, and the list goes on. But as for the Pokemon with guns game, there is no telling if that’s the case.
Don’t worry, here’s where you can find out the truth about the maps and resources being procedurally generated. So, here’s everything you need to know.
Are Maps and Resources Random Procedurally Generated in Palworld?
No, Palworld neither features random procedurally generated maps nor resources. While the game is an open-world survival game, it doesn’t use procedural generation. Instead, the maps and resources in Palworld are non-procedurally generated static. So, you will find the fixed spawn points for Pals, bosses, terrains, and biomes across the maps.
Although this might come as a bummer to many players, this is what the developers at Pocketpair decided. As of now, the map is 16 square kilometers in size which is relatively smaller as compared to other games like Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. However, you will notice the lack of procedural generation when you play multiplayer with friends.
As you do so, you will be prompted with a list of spawn points that are the same around all the worlds. Although this might come as a bummer to many players, this is what the developers at Pocketpair decided.
Having said that, the game is currently in Early Access. So, the Pocketpair may include the random procedural generation in future updates. When that happens, we will ensure to update this guide.
