According to a new discovery, Age of Empires 4, the PC strategy game from Relic Entertainment and World’s Edge launched last year, could soon arrive on Xbox consoles. Check out the details below.
Age of Empires 4 Is Coming to Xbox Consoles Soon
Xbox Game Studios launched the fourth entry in the inspiring RTS franchise, Age of Empires 4, on October 28, 2021. During the release of the title, it was not known whether Age of Empires 4 would be coming to Xbox consoles, as the title was only released on Windows PC.
Now, it seems that an Xbox version of Age Of Empires 4 is in development, as per an entry posted on the Xbox Insider hub. To suggest it is the Twitter user ALumia_Italia, who takes care of tracking all the news within the Microsoft Store and beyond.
As reported by the user, a build of a project called “XIP_CAR_JANUARY_2022” is now available for internal testing in the Xbox Insider Hub. In this case, “CAR” is an abbreviation for “CARDINAL”, the code name used by the developers of Relic to identify Age of Empires 4.
This still doesn’t confirm Age of Empires 4 is coming to Xbox, however. The Xbox Insider Hub is in fact also available on PC, as is the Xbox Insider Preview program, present in the identification code with “XIP”.
As highlighted by the Twitter user ALumia_Italia, however, this is the first time that an Age of Empires 4 build explicitly mentions the Xbox Insider Preview.
While a port of Age of Empires 4 for Xbox has never been officially announced, developers have not completely denied this hypothesis in the past. Also, after the success of Microsoft Flight Simulator on consoles, it is evident that Microsoft is keen to bring another of its PC exclusives to Xbox.
