There is this one feature in Windows 11 that you might rarely use which is Chat from Microsoft Teams. Since this application is still less familiar among Windows operating system users, there may be many users who would want to hide the chat icon from the latest Microsoft operating system. In this article, I will show you how to remove or hide chat icon from Windows 11 taskbar.
How to Remove or Hide Chat Icon From Windows 11 Taskbar
Microsoft has introduced a new Chat icon representing Microsoft Teams to help you to connect with your friends, family, and team members in no time. In any case, if you are not using Microsoft Teams for any reason, you can easily remove the Chat icon from the Windows 11 taskbar.
Unfortunately, you just cannot right-click on the Chat icon and Unpin it from the taskbar because when you right-click, there is no Context Menu option that appears. Then, what are the steps to disable the chat button from the Windows 11 taskbar? I am going to give you different methods that you can use to disable the Microsoft Team Chat icon on the Taskbar.
Method 1: Removing Chat Icon from Windows 11 Taskbar via Settings
- First of all, on your Windows 11 PC, open the Settings app and then go to Personalization > Taskbar.
- Search for the Chat option under Taskbar items.
- You will find the Slider option next to Chat, just click on its right side. This way the Chat option will be disabled.
- That’s it, on your Taskbar now you can see that the Chat Button has been disappeared completely.
Method 2: Remove the Chat icon from Windows 11 Taskbar using Registry Editor
There is also another method via Registry Editor to hide the Chat icon from Taskbar in Windows 11. But before that, I would like you to backup the registry or create a system restore point prior to editing it if anything goes wrong. Follow the steps below given below.
- First of all, press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard to open the Run command and type Regedit and press Enter key.
- Once the Registry Editor opens, you have to navigate to the following path mentioned below:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced - In the right pane, search for TaskbarMn and double-click on it. Then change its Value data to 0 and click Ok to save the settings.
- After that, open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc, or else you can right-click Start and select Task Manager.
- In the same Task Manager window, simply right-click on Windows Explorer and click Restart to reboot your Explorer for the changes to take effect.
- Note that if you are not able to find the TaskbarMn in the right pane, simply create it manually. For that, just right-click on Advanced in the left pane, then choose New DWORD (32-bit) Value and name it TaskbarMn. Then follow the steps described previously.
