There can be a lot of reasons why your iPad is not charging, for example, the cable is at fault, the tablet’s port is having issues, the charger is not working, etc. While there can be ample of reasons for the charging problems of iPad, we have listed below various solutions that can fix this issue.

1. Restart and Reset your iPad

Apple advises disconnecting your iPad, reconnecting it to a power source, and waiting 30 minutes. If it still does not charge, then you are advised to restart it at the same time as it is connected to the mains. If it still doesn’t work, then reset it. To do this, go to Settings, then General, and Reset.

2. Charge your iPad from a Computer

Charging your iPad from your Mac takes longer than from a power outlet, due to less power. If you want to go through a MacBook, make sure it is plugged in. If your computer fails to charge it, your iPad will notify you with the appearance of a battery icon.

Finally, make sure that the USB tip is inserted into the corresponding output of the Mac and that the Mac is on or in sleep mode.

3. Clean your iPad port

Disconnect your iPad and make sure its port isn’t hiding debris or dust. After cleaning it properly, then check if charging it works.

4. Check that your Charger is Fine

Apple Watches and iPhones, except models released since the release of the 12 range, are sold with 5W adapters, while those supplied with tablets are 10W, 12W, or 20W. On the other hand, as they are compatible with each other, you can use your iPhone with your iPad and vice versa.

5. Check Which Component is not Working

If none of the above tips are working, then one of the components of your tablet or its accessories may be faulty. Therefore, we recommend plugging your iPad into a different power outlet, or USB port, on your Mac. If your iPad is charging, then that means the problem is there. Also try using a friend’s cable, if not get a new one from this Apple site or from Amazon, among other places.
