It seems that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has a few surprises in store for tech enthusiasts. According to famous leaker Ice Universe, Samsung has made some rather unusual design choices for its upcoming flagship, which is expected to be released in early 2024. Since Samsung released its first curved-screen smartphone, the gigantic Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, no other device from the company has achieved a similar width. Currently, the two main “Ultra” models on the market, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, are respectively 1 and 1.5mm in width below this limit. Furthermore, the S23 Ultra uses curved side edges to make it easier to grip, while Apple seems intent on reducing the width of its rumored iPhone 15 Ultra even further to 76.7mm.
Historically, very few smartphones have achieved this width. Some may remember the Dell Streak, which Dell didn’t even openly define as a smartphone, as it was 79.1mm wide with very wide bezels for the time, flat edges, and 10mm thick.
According to the same source “Ice Universe”, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will also have a slightly more elongated aspect ratio, going from 19.3:9 to 19.5:9. The bezels will be 3.42mm thick on all four sides, resulting in the lowest screen-to-body ratio recorded by a Samsung flagship in recent years, at around 88%. The screen’s diagonal size will remain unchanged from the S23 Ultra, at 6.78″, while the resolution will be 3120 x 1440. In addition, a peak brightness of 2,500 nits is expected.
The information closes with a condition: it’s best to avoid the black color variant, as the color will contribute to the perception of thicker bezels of the device. Also, this is considered without taking into account the cases, which are essential for most people.
Other specifications of Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra that have already emerged concern the presence of a 12 MP front camera, while the main one would be 200 MP, flanked by a 12 MP ultrawide lens, a 50 MP telephoto lens (3x optical zoom), and a 10 MP (3x optical zoom) 10x). The phone is expected to launch in two variants – one with the Exynos 2400 processor and the other with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It will have 12GB of RAM in the 256GB and 512GB variants and 16GB of RAM in the 1TB version. Finally, it could be powered by a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.
