Meta Quest 3 Vs Apple Vision Pro – The Real Differences

Meta Quest 3 or Apple Vision Pro, that's the real question. Here's the full breakdown of these two mixed-reality headsets.

With the recent release of Apple Vision Pro, many users believe it to be the king of mixed reality and spatial computing. However, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, begs to differ as he posted it on his Instagram account. He said, “I think Meta Quest 3 is a better product, period“. But isn’t that an obvious thing for the CEO of Meta to say? While it’s true that the Meta Quest 3 is an indirect competitor to Apple Vision Pro, their pricing has a huge difference.

But aside from that, both the headsets have their pros and cons. Choosing one of them can discard the option of another headset for you but it all depends on your usage. So, here’s a complete breakdown of Apple’s Vision Pro and Meta’s Quest 3 to find out all the real differences between them.

Let’s start by comparing the specs of both the headsets:

Now, let’s compare both the headsets with our narrowed points:

Better Design and Display

Compared to Apple’s Vision Pro, the Quest 3 feels more durable and less fragile. While the former has a sleeker look, the latter isn’t prone to wobbles or sliding. This makes it less chance of any additional head motions during sudden movements or especially gaming.

Speaking of the better display, Vision Pro wins the round with its micro-OLED displays. With a resolution of 23 MP per eye, it boasts approximately 4k resolution. However, Meta Quest 3 has a faster display at 120 HZ.

Treat for Cinema Enthusiasts

For the users looking for a theatrical experience, we think Vision Pro might be your pick. While Quest 3 offers spatial display, it doesn’t offer as exceptional experience as the $ 3,500 Apple device. This might be due to a deadly combo of the dual-driver audio pods (spatial audio) and the Micro OLEDs. Vision Pro’s audiovisual quality feels much more premium and superior.

Gaming

If you are looking to play games and fitness experiences, Quest 3 is a clear winner here. Although Vision Pro boasts a library of Apple Games, not all of these titles utilize their full potential. Sadly, not every game uses spatial audio-visual and hand-tracking features. The Vision Pro supports up to 100 Hz display that might have some issues running a few games.

But that said, the Snapdragon X2 Gen 2 offers a more effective gaming performance overall. While gaming on both headsets, there were no instances of high latency or crashes. But as many users faced minor lags while gaming with the Vision Pro, we can’t say the same about the $3500 device.
