It is now possible on Twitter to obtain the blue” Verified Account” badge with a website to prove their identity. This badge was previously reserved for public figures such as artists, politicians, models, journalists, and renowned bloggers, etc. The main purpose of this change is to make it easier for each Internet user to identify influencers and creators to follow. The verification of Twitter accounts was implemented in 2009 and today more than 200,000 people benefit from it, according to statistics provided by Twitter. But how do you get verified account status on Twitter? Here’s a guide for you.

Before proceeding with the request to Twitter, you need to check that this information on your profile is present and verified:

    • Verified phone number.
    • A confirmed email address.
    • Having filled the Bio.
    • A profile picture.
    • A header photo.
    • A birthday (unless you are a company).
    • A website.
    • Your Tweets are public.

Your Twitter account must already have most of these fields filled in already and confirmed if you use it regularly, but if it doesn’t, you need to go to your profile and click Edit Profile. Fill in the missing details and click Save Changes.

For the email address, go to Settings > Accounts and make sure you have added a specific email address. For your phone number, go to Settings > Mobile. No contact methods will be displayed to the public.

Steps to get verified on Twitter

    • First, go to this link and check that your Twitter profile meets Twitter’s activity standards.
    • After that go to Settings and privacy > Your account > Account information and then start the verification procedure by clicking on the “Request Verification” option.
    • A new window will pop, here you need to click on Start Now button.
    • Now you need to select any one of the right categories to confirm your identity on Twitter.
    • After that, you need to provide proof that you have chosen the right category, for example, your official website, articles about you, etc.
    • Now you have to verify your identity by providing an official government-issued ID, email address, or website.
    • Next, just click the submit button and wait for Twitter to check all the details and get back to you.
    • If the Twitter administrators decide that you meet all the requirements for a verified account, they will notify you via a “direct message”. Select the link contained in that message to be redirected to the page to complete the procedure.
    • Finally, if the request is denied, don’t panic. After 30 days you will have the opportunity to submit a new one.
