How to delete chat history in three clicks on Telegram
- Open the relevant chat, access the options menu (the three vertical dots), and click on Clear History.
- In the following window, you can decide to delete all the messages just for yourself in a single click (by clicking on the red Delete button ) or, by activating the specific box, you can make the entire history disappear from the recipient as well.
Enable auto-deletion of messages in a single chat in Telegram
- If, on the other hand, you want to activate self-elimination for that chat, instead of the red Delete button, click on the Activate self-elimination item in blue.
- From the new screen, select the period of time after which the app must delete the messages choosing between 1-6 days, 1-3 weeks, 1-6 months, or after 1 year.
Enable auto-deletion of messages for all new chats in Telegram
- If instead, you want to activate the self-destruction of messages for all chats, at this point all you have to do is click on the item Self-destruction timer in blue.
- The following screen can also be reached by going through the Telegram Settings from the Privacy and Security section > Auto-delete messages.
- You can set the timer after 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or you can choose a custom period up to a maximum of 1 year.
Even for existing chats
In the same Settings > Privacy and security > Auto-delete messages window, there is also the option to apply this setting to your existing chats in blue: by clicking on it, it will be possible to select one by one all the chats for which you want to activate this setting.
