Can You Swim Wearing Apple Watch Series 7?

Is Apple Watch Completely Water Proof?

Apple Watch is not waterproof, it is water-resistant. You cannot go swimming or take shower while wearing Apple Watch Series 7. Here is the reason why.

  1. Apple Watch Series 7 – IP6X Dust Resistance.
  2. Apple Watch Series 2 – Water Resistance Rating 50 Meters.
  3. Apple Watch Series 1 – IPX7 Water Resistance.

Because it is dust resistance and it can only in-take some sweat during exercise. Apple Watch Series 1 & Apple Watch 1st Gen are splash and water resistant. Apple does not recommend submerging watches from both series in water. So cannot go swimming wearing Apple Watch Series 7 and Series 1.

Apple Watch Series 2 is water resistant and you can swim wearing it. As per Apple’s support doc, Apple Watch Series 2 can be used max under a 50-meter deep water pool under ISO standard 22810:2010.

  • No Rain Use.
  • No Swimming Pool Use.

Apple Watch Series 2

  • Can be used while swimming in a pool or an ocean.
  • Not for scuba diving, water skiing, or activities that require submersion below 50 meters.

Apple Watch Series 7

  • Can be used while workout.
  • No Rain Use.
  • No Swimming Pool Use.

One important thing Water Resistance is not permanent, it diminishes over time based on usage. Also, there is no way to re-seal the Apple watch back and restore its waterproof abilities. Here is a list of common things that can damage the Apple Watch’s water resistance capabilities.

Do not heat or use sprays if you accidentally spilled water on your Apple Watch. Clean it with a dry cloth and gently rinse the liquid off the body. Do not insert any cloth or cotton in the openings of the device. Avoid shaking the watch.

The best solution is to keep Apple Watch charging overnight, this will speed up water evaporation. Liquid can impact the sensors and speakers of the watch. For this, you will have to carry it to the care center for repairs. Apple Watch liquid damage is not covered under warranty, be ready to pay the price.
