Starting from iOS 14.5 or later operating system versions of Apple, it is possible to accept or reject phone calls with your voice on your iPhone, in a direct and very natural way, without having to say “Hey Siri” first. The latest iOS update makes Siri announce incoming phone calls when wearing compatible AirPods or Beats headphones, and this allows you to answer directly, and without having to use your hands. Check out this complete guide to answer or decline calls with your voice on your iPhone below.

To set the direct acceptance or rejection of the call, without having to first say “Hey Siri”, simply follow these instructions (which will vary slightly depending on the device used):
On iPhones:
- Open the Settings app.
- Touch Siri & Search.
- Touch Read caller name.
- Choose one of the options between Always, when using Headphones or in Auto, or headphones only.
On iPads:
- Open the Settings app.
- Touch FaceTime
- Touch Read caller name.
- Choose one of the options between Always, when using Headphones or in Auto, or headphones only.
- To accept the call just say something like “accept call” and to reject it, “reject call.”
Finally, don’t forget that, among the new features of iOS, there is another one that allows you to ask for help with your voice; in an emergency, you can say “Siri, call 911” to immediately trigger an automatic call to the police.
