After the first tests and leaks of the official name, Microsoft has officially announced the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family plan, now available exclusively in Colombia and Ireland. Check out all the details below.
Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family Plan Announced
After a major leak earlier last week, Microsoft has finally chosen to confirm the existence of its new Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family subscription. A formula that can be shared between several users.
“Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family is a Game Pass plan that allows up to five friends and family members to share Game Pass Ultimate benefits. With the Friends & Family plan, all five members enjoy the benefits of Game Pass Ultimate, with their own unique access to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate games, content, and benefits, regardless of what device they play on. All the people you invite can play at the same time—you can even play together in the same game. Plus, you can include friends and family outside your household,” reads the FAQ.
More countries will be added to the list in the coming months, but it should be noted that in Ireland the plan costs €21.99 per month. Anyone who has an Xbox Game Pass subscription and wishes to convert it to offer to friends or family will see the remaining time of their subscription migrated to the new service. For example, one month of Game Pass Ultimate will be worth 18 days of Friends & Family. Those who want to be invited will have to cancel existing subscriptions or wait for them to expire.
Microsoft has released a formula for the same:
- 30 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate = 18 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
- 30 days of Xbox Game Pass (Console) = 12 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
- 30 days of PC Game Pass = 12 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
- 30 days of Xbox Live Gold = 12 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
- 30 days of EA Play = 6 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
Microsoft also says that you can only share your subscription with people who reside in your country. If a member of the group changes their country of residence and no longer matches that of the main account holder, they will be removed from the group.
