WB Games San Diego Is Working on a “New AAA, Free-to-Play, Cross-platform Game”

A series of new job announcements published by WB Games San Diego would have revealed that the company is in the process of hiring staff for a “new AAA, Free-to-Play, cross-platform game.”

But that’s not all, as the job posting would have revealed that the new project in the works not only exploits the Unreal Engine 4 as a graphics engine, but will be also available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Among the various figures sought we find that of Senior Combat Designer, Software Engineer, VFX Artist, Game Systems Designer, Senior Platform Engineer, Server Engineer, Direct of Product and Product Manager.

As can be seen from the full-bodied tweet by MauroNL, which you can easily retrieve at the bottom of the article, the project in question will exploit the Amazon GameLift. It is a managed service for deploying, operating, and scaling dedicated game servers for session-based multiplayer titles.

At the moment we don’t know much about the new work in the pipeline at the studios of WB Games San Diego, even if the announcement related to the Combat Designer refers to the balance of skills and sets of moves articulated on multiple characters.

Furthermore, the game in question is expected to contain several live in-game events, including some exclusive offers. We report in detail the words of MauroNL below:

Warner Bros. Games San Diego has put up a dozen new job listings for a new project. It is described as “an exciting new AAA, free-to-play, cross-platform game” targeted for “for multiple platforms including the new Gen-9 Consoles”. The project will use Unreal Engine 4 and will utilize Amazon GameLift. Amazon GameLift is a managed service for deploying, operating, and scaling dedicated game servers for session-based multiplayer games.

There is not a lot to go by on what type of game it is but the combat designer listing mentions “balanced abilities and move sets across multiple characters” and will feature “frequent live game events and store offers”. WBG San Diego is a studio that “will bring some of the most iconic characters and stories to life in free-to-play games.”
