The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Gets Rated by ESRB

According to the official ESRB rating unveiled recently, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom is rated E10+.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been announced during the September Nintendo Direct and the Japanese publisher confirmed that the sequel to Breath of The Wild would release on May 12, 2023, on the Nintendo Switch. Also in November, the title was also rated by the Game Ratings and Administration Committee (GRAC) in South Korea.

Now, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) has rated the game, giving it an E10+ rating with mentions of: “Fantasy Violence” and “Mild Suggestive Themes.”

The rating hasn’t been posted on the ESRB’s website yet, but you can currently view it on the game’s US eShop page. The rating is temporary, of course, because ratings generally get officially released for games as they approach their launch period.

Development on the sequel had begun in 2017, after the end of production on Breath of the Wild, with the first teaser trailer being shown at the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct. In the E3 2021 Direct, the first gameplay was shown, with story elements and an initially planned release for 2022. Below is an overview via the official website:
