According to recent reports, Resident Evil Village will place more emphasis on open world than its predecessors. There is talk of smaller open world sections and Metroidvania elements.
A few days after the official presentation of Resident Evil Village in Capcom’s livestream, we received further details about the playful implementation of the horror adventure.
It all started with the title’s official Steam product page, which Capcom provided with additional tags in the form of “Sexual Content” and “Open World.” While Capcom didn’t provide any further details, the usually well-informed insider “Dusk Golem” has given more information about the title.
As he reports, the title places more emphasis on exploring the game world than it was in its predecessors. Accordingly, the different areas of the game world are connected to one another and are intended to encourage players to explore the game world down to the last corner.
At the same time, according to Dusk Golem, there are always trips to areas that have already been visited, for example, to unlock additional content or to solve tasks.
“Resident Evil Village has a sorta small open world design, Metroidvania is the word the team uses. There’s more of a focus on exploration, every area connecting, & returning to areas than most recent RE games,” commented the insider.
Resident Evil Village will be released on May 7, 2021, for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
