According to a well-known leaker, the first information about the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro has been leaked, which will eventually release at the end of 2023/2024. Accordingly, the console is supposed to get an AMD chip, which consumes more power, but the APU should also offer significantly better performance and thus enable 8K gaming.
Sony PlayStation 5 Pro To Release in 2023/2024?
Sony PlayStation is 5 Pro is expected to arrive in late 2023 on the market, but at the latest by the end of 2024, according to the well-known leaker Moore’s Law is Dead. The new Sony console is expected shortly after the launch of the new version of the Xbox Series X.
Those are the only details which the leaker could actually confirm, but as far as the upgrades to be expected are concerned, there is still no reliable information.
However, the leaker believes that it would make sense to equip the PS5 Pro in a similar way to the regular PS5, i.e. with an AMD graphics chip with 36 Compute Units (CUs), which are clocked higher.
With a newer architecture and production with a structure width of 5 nm, the new Sony console could achieve a 50% higher performance, which could significantly improve the frame rate and, in the case of a dynamic resolution, the image quality of games.
PlayStation 5 Pro Rumored Price
Other sources believe in a bigger upgrade, and the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro is expected to be $600-700, which will use a brand new architecture from AMD that would allow significantly higher performance.
In spite of how big the leap in performance actually becomes, 8K gaming could become a reality with the PS5 Pro, at least with the use of super-sampling technologies such as AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution or Intel XeSS.
