Mortal Kombat 1 Live-Action Trailer Showcases Dave Bautista
Although there is already talk of a Mortal Kombat 1 sequel by NetherRealm, the eyes of the players are all focused on this great return to the fighting saga.
Today, a new video, titled “It’s In Our Blood,” is directed by Tom Kuntz with the collaboration of Academy Award nominee Matthew Libatique (A Star Is Born) and pays homage to the historic 1993 “Mortal Monday commercial, which marked a key moment for the series.
Reimagining the iconic TV commercial that first aired 30 years ago, actor and producer Dave Bautista in the trailer brings together people from all walks of life and empowers them to unleash their inner warrior.
Bautista’s role mirrors that of Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 1, who created and revived the MK universe and who must gather the champions of the various realms to fight and protect his dream.
“I vividly remember the original Mortal Monday commercial, especially the iconic scream,” Bautista said. “That’s what started my journey as a fan of Mortal Kombat, which continues to this day 30 years later. I’m very thrilled and honored to be a part of the game’s legacy.”
Mortal Kombat 1 is in any case set to release on September 19, when the fighters will land on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and also Nintendo Switch.
In other news, a new Mortal Kombat 1 single-player mode called ‘Invasions’ was leaked earlier, in which players will travel through the “Realms of Mortal Kombat”.
