Railgun is one of the support weapons in Helldivers 2 that can destroy a great deal of enemies at once. It is the best choice against heavily armored enemies for inflicting enough damage. As you use the Railgun, you will notice that it has two modes. These are unsafe and safe modes that can be used strategically to deal more damage depending. But ever since the players started using this weapon, they have been confused about using the unsafe mode in Railgun in Helldivers 2.

Don’t worry, check out our guide to find out everything about this mode for Railgun. In our guide, you can also know the difference between safe mode and unsafe modes for this weapon. So, here’s everything you need to know.

What is the Helldivers 2 Railgun Unsafe Mode?

The Unsafe mode in Railgun is a setting preference that you can either enable or disable depending on your usage. While this mode simply works with no safety, it works differently than the safe mode. The Unsafe mode in Railgun not only deals damage to your targeted enemies but also the ones near them. Being a technically AoE weapon, this could be a great weapon for eliminating hordes or alien enemies.

The more you hold on to the charge of the Railgun, the more damage it will cause when released. However, this can be a bit unreliable since your weapon can also explode. So, we recommend not holding the weapon charge for too long.

On the other hand, the Safe mode of Railgun functions like a weapon that can inflict massive damage. It ideally kills only the targeted enemy, so it is a straightforward weapon. For those players who don’t like the risk of their weapon exploding, safe mode might be the safest option for you (pun intended).

How to Get and Use Railgun

The Railgun is arguably the most powerful support weapon that can be unlocked by spending Stratagems. For that, you must complete daily missions, questlines, and operations. Once unlocked, follow the below steps:

    • Head to Ship Management> Interact with it by pressing the E button > Switch to the Stratagems tab > Scroll and navigate to Railgun > Own it by spending stratagems.

Now, here’s how to use the Railgun in Helldivers 2:

    • Hold the right mouse button on a keyboard or R2 on a PS controller to bring up the Railgun.
    • As soon as the weapon is charged, shoot it for dealing massive damage output.
    • The Railgun simply has one magazine and requires a new battery after every shot.
    • For every magazine, it offers 20 shots and is super-effective against armored enemies.

That’s everything covered about the Helldivers 2 Railgun unsafe and safe mode. If you found this guide helpful, check out our guides on how to get the Premium Warbonds, how to switch to first-person POV, and explore more Helldivers 2 Guides in our dedicated section right here on TechnClub.
