In the last few days, a foreign store revealed the price of the top version of the Asus ROG Ally gaming console. The flagship configuration offering a more powerful processor, Ryzen Z1 Extreme, 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory, and 512 GB of storage space appeared for $699. However, now according to some leaks, Asus has prepared several variants of its upcoming handheld.

According to the person behind the pseudonym SnoopyTech, ROG Ally with a 256 GB drive, 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory, and Ryzen Z1 (not Extreme) will have a price of $599. This is only $100 less than the more powerful variant mentioned at the beginning.

Hence, the question comes to mind about the profitability of a cheaper configuration. Not only has it been deprived of half of the memory for data, it also offers a weaker APU system.

It is worth recalling the graphs created by AMD presenting the performance of both models from the Ryzen Z1 series in games. According to AMD, the Extreme model can be up to twice as fast as the basic Z1 APU. Of course, a lot depends on the game itself, but the presence of three times as many graphics cores in the Z1 Extreme model could make a difference.

Just keep in mind that information about the price of the cheaper Asus ROG Ally configuration has not yet been confirmed. The official announcement about the upcoming gaming console by ASUS is scheduled for May 11, 2023.
