There is a fake “virus” that has been circulating for some time now affecting iPhone calendars. It is not malware and it would be more appropriate to refer to it as spam but it can be annoying and scare some users. This is spam (junk advertising) which typically displays unwanted ads shown to the user in the form of scheduled events on the iPhone calendar. In this guide, let us check out how to remove this iPhone calendar “virus”.

Steps to Remove iPhone Calendar “Virus”

There are advertising SPAMs (sent by fraudulent sites) that install alerts on the calendar, saying that your iOS device has viruses. We can reassure you by saying that this is not true, because there are currently no viruses or malware for iPhones and iPad.

The events are added without any prior approval on the iPhone calendar and the closer the event gets, the more announcements, pop-ups, and invasive notifications are sent to the user to convince them or to click on a link.

The goal is to make the user click on the links attached to the notifications or to the event itself. In major cases, the events on the calendar will try to attract attention through messages that scare the user by indicating a date linked to the event such as the one in which a “malware”, “virus” will be activated, or by indicating among the items in the calendar with indications such as: “Click here for the security of your iPhone”, “You have won an iPhone!”, “Your iPhone may be exposed to viruses!” and so on.

How to remove the “virus” from the iPhone calendar

Being simply entries listed in the calendar, the elimination of this fake “virus” is very simple, here are the steps:

    1. On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
    2. After that select Calendar and from there “Account”.
    3. From here you can view the calendars you have subscribed to, including those related to the fake virus.
    4. Select and delete the account with the fake virus and delete it.
    5. Finally, everything will work as before, without any problems. From now on you will no longer have that annoying calendar notice.

That is everything you need to know about how to remove the iPhone calendar “virus”. For more iPhone Tips and Tricks, check out our other guides on the Best Ad Blockers for iPhone, and iOS 15.4.1: Should I Update on iPhone.
