After several delays, the 3D platform Psychonauts 2 will now be released for consoles and PCs at the end of August. As the responsible developers at Double Fine Productions promised shortly before the release, great efforts were made to ensure that the title can be enjoyed by all players in the best-case scenario.
Therefore, various options such as a customizable key assignment, the ability to deactivate the vibrations of the camera, or a particularly easy mode in which Raz is invincible, found their way into the successor.
After a few users on platforms like Twitter made fun of the easiest level of difficulty of Psychonauts 2, the developers at Double Fine Productions felt compelled to defend it. As the studio says, video games should simply be enjoyed by anyone who is interested in them.
“If you beat Psychonauts 2 with the invincibility toggle on, you still beat P2,” says Double Fine Productions. “All people should be able to enjoy games. All ages, all possible needs. It’s an ongoing and important process for our industry and a challenge we need to met. End of the day? We want you to have fun, to laugh, to experience a story that affects you.
