App crashing issue is due to a recent update. You just have to remove the same and Google App will start working.

1. Go to Settings and look for Apps.
2. On some phones, it is App Manager, open it and you will see a list of all Installed Apps.
3. Scroll down and tap on Google Apps.
4. On the right top look for three dots, tap on it to open a menu.
5. Tap on Uninstall Updates.

Now there are chances the app will auto-update itself. Unless Google really brings a fix for this you will have to follow the above steps. 1. Launch Google Play Store.
2. Tap on three dots on the top left side and go to Settings.
3. Tap on Auto-update apps.

From here you will see a list of apps that are on auto-update. You can either disable updates completely or stop apps from running auto-updates.
