Nvidia has just revealed the first three GeForce RTX 4000 series graphics cards based on the all-new Ada Lovelace architecture: RTX 4090 24 GB memory, RTX 4080 12 GB memory variant, and RTX 4080 16 GB memory variant. Check out the official price, specs, and release date of RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 graphics cards below.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 & RTX 4080 Specs
Nvidia just announced the first three GeForce RTX 4000 series graphics cards officially. With the GeForce RTX 4090, the GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB, and the GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB, Nvidia will be launching three high-end graphics cards in the next two months.
NVIDIA RTX 4090 Founders Edition
The new flagship of NVIDIA, the GeForce RTX 4090, relies on a GPU with 16,384 CUDA processing units that achieves a nominal computing power of 83 TFLOPs, which more than doubles the performance of the previous model (about 2-4X faster than RTX 3090), the power consumption is 450 watts, on par with the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. Its Boost frequency is 2520 MHz. As for the memory configuration, we have 24 GB in GDDR6X running at a speed of 21 Gbps. The bandwidth is therefore 1008 GB/s thanks to the 384-bit bus. The TDP is 450W.
NVIDIA RTX 4080 Founders Edition: 12 and 16 GB Models
There are two models of RTX 4080s and beware, it’s not just the amount of memory that differentiates them. Let’s start with the 16 GB version which is also more powerful than its 12 GB variant. Indeed, here we have the AD103-300 GPU with 76 SM for 9,728 CUDA cores. The GPU frequency is 2505 MHz. As for memory, therefore, we have 16 GB in GDDR6X as well, but operating at a speed of 22.5 Gbps. With the 256-bit bus, we have a bandwidth of 720 GB/s. The TDP here is 340W.
As for the RTX 4080 12GB version, we have the AD104-400 GPU. We go from 76 to 60 SMs and only have 7680 CUDA cores left. The frequency, on the other hand, increases slightly and we go to 2610 MHz. The 12 GB of GDDR6X memory operates not at 23 Gbps, but at 21 Gbps. Combined with the 192-bit bus we have a bandwidth of 504 GB/s.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 & RTX 4080 Price and Release Date
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 will be available on October 12, 2022 for a suggested retail price of $1,599. The GeForce RTX 4080 12GB has a price list of $899, whereas the GeForce RTX 4080 with 16GB graphics memory will have a price of $1,199, both variants of the RTX 4080 will be available in November 2022.
