iMessage is one of the inbuilt and most used apps on iPhone and iPad to send text messages, photos, or videos to friends and family, but how can you tell if the other person has blocked you? Well, it cannot be denied that Apple gives us a lot of advanced services, however, it is not easy to find out if a person has blocked us on iMessage. Therefore, in this article, we will guide you with several methods to find out if someone has blocked you on iMessage.
How to Know If You Are Blocked on iMessage on your iPhone
If you are having some problems with iMessage and your messages are not being delivered to your friends or family, there might be several reasons why this can happen. It could be possible that the person to whom you are sending the message is having some problem with his/her iPhone or they may have blocked you on iMessage. In any case, check out all the reasons given below to fix the problem:
Method 1: Message Notification Appears to be Delivered or Not
This is one of the most direct ways to tell if you are blocked on iMessage. Send any message to someone, and if it does not report any status (Delivered/Read) then it means that you are blocked on iMessage.
Method 2: Try making a FaceTime call to find if you are blocked on iMessage
The next step you can follow immediately as soon as you suspect there are some issues is to make a FaceTime call. Even if your number is not blocked completely, iMessage uses the same system for FaceTime, so if you are blocked the call will be canceled immediately. Also, note that this problem can also happen because of network problems and the Do Not Disturb mode. So, if you really want to know the status, you may have to call the person again after some time.
Method 3: Enable SMS communication
Turning ON SMS communication is useful to see if the whole number is blocked, here are the steps:
- On your iPhone, go to the Settings app.
- Look for the “Messages” section.
- Under Messages, you can enable iMessage and SMS communication.
Now, try to send a message to someone you are interested in. First, the message will appear Blue, indicating that it is going via iMessage, and then it will turn green. This messaging system works in particular if the confirmation of receipt is active, but if this is not received, your number is completely blocked.
Method 4: Hide Caller ID on iPhone or Call the Blocker
If you are sure that the other person is not picking up your call deliberately, you can try to hide your caller ID on your iPhone and then call them after some time. Here’s the method to disable caller ID on iPhone:
- On your iPhone, launch the Settings app.
- Scroll down and search for Phone and tap on it.
- At the bottom of the list, you will find the option of “Show My Caller ID”, just turn it off. (Note that this option is not available in all countries.)
- Finally, if you find the other person answering the call, it means that he/she may have blocked you on iMessage.
In this way, you will find out if someone has blocked you on iMessage. While you are here, check out our other guides on What is Share Focus Status on iMessage, and How to fix ‘iMessage needs to be enabled to send this message’ Error on iPhone/iPad.
