  • AirPods first-generation – Released in September 2016.
  • AirPods 2 second-generation – Released in March 2019.
  • AirPods 3 third-generation – Released in October 2021.
  • AirPods Pro first-generation – Released in October 2019.
  • AirPods Pro 2 second-generation – Released in September 2022.

How to check which Generation of AirPods you have

Here are the steps to check the AirPod models on your iPhone:

  • On your iPhone, tap on the Settings app.
  • Then go to the Bluetooth option.
  • Tap on the More Info button.
  • That’s it, you will be able to see the model number of your AirPod clearly.

Here are the steps to check the AirPod models on your earphone itself:

  • On your AirPod, the underside of each earphone you will be able to see the model number printed.
  • If you have AirPods Max, the model number will be printed under the cushion on the left earphone.
