How Does Adaptive Audio Works & How to Enable it on AirPods Pro 2?

AirPods are well known for their noise cancellation and Spatial audio feature. Moreover, the transparency mode connects you to your surrounding environment. But what if you want to use the noise cancellation and transparency modes both at the same time? So that you can stay connected to your environment without disturbing the music? Apple has made it possible with the new feature known as Adaptive Audio. This feature automatically adjusts the level of Transparency mode and Active Noise Cancellation based on your environment, so you can hear what you want and block out what you don’t. At present, you can only use Adaptive Audio on your AirPods Pro 2 and to enable it this guide will help you.

How does Adaptive Audio Work?

When Adaptive Audio is on, your AirPods Pro 2 will switch between Transparency mode and Active Noise Cancellation depending on the situation. For example, if you’re walking on a busy street, it will reduce the traffic noise and let you hear important sounds like horns or sirens. If you’re in a quiet room, it will increase the noise cancellation and let you focus on your audio. Adaptive Audio also works when you’re on a call, by reducing the background noise while you speak and enhancing the voice of the person you’re talking to.

How to Turn on Adaptive Audio on AirPods Pro 2?

Since Adaptive Audio is currently in the testing phase, there are not many details currently available on how to enable it. However, we will update the details in this guide as soon as this feature is rolled out on the AirPods Pro 2. Although, you can use Adaptive Transparency for now to get the much similar experience, and here’s how you can do it:

  • With your AirPods Pro 2 connected to your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app and tap on your AirPods name.
  • Under the Noise Control tab, select the ‘Transparency’ mode.
  • Now tap the ‘Adaptive transparency’ toggle to turn it on.

The Adaptive transparency will analyze environmental noise and determine what noises should the wearer listen to. This feature is helpful while you are walking in the street or in some noisy place. This is a part of the feature that Adaptive Audio offers. As Adaptive Audio can dynamically blend noise cancellation mode and transparency mode with spatial audio, it can give you a much better audio listening experience than Adaptive Transparency.

That’s everything covered on How to enable Adaptive Audio on AirPods Pro 2. Also, check out our other guides, such as How to Connect AirPods Pro 2 to Apple TV.
