According to reports, Sony has recently added a 7-day free trial to PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium. For the time being, it is only available to new players who do not have any of the 3 PS Plus variants enabled. Check out all the information below.
For a few weeks now, it was already known that Sony has launched its 3 new PlayStation Plus variants. The subscription, available to all, now offers three tiers to choose from: Essential, the same as the previous one; Extra, with games on demand for PS4 and PS5; Premium, which adds classic games and the ability to stream.
We have already told you in our in-depth article about all the characteristics of the different PS Plus tier-list, however, those with some concerns can now access a free 7-day trial, at least in the UK. Indeed, the PlayStation Store now offers in their region the possibility of accessing a trial version of the Extra and Premium tiers.
So, if you just create an account in another region – UK, Germany, and Poland report the availability of a 7-day trial – you will be able to try PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium for free. All you have to do is just enter the payment card and then remember to cancel the subscription so that the money is not automatically deducted after the trial period.
PS Plus Extra includes access to hundreds of PlayStation 5 and PS4 games, including Returnal, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, while PS Plus Premium adds classic titles from the PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 eras to its catalog of games.
Sure, the free trial can be a good way to get an idea of the games catalog, or how streaming is going. Or to test Stray, which from Tuesday will be available from day one for subscribers from the Extra tier list.
At the moment, however, on the US PlayStation Store, it is not possible to see the availability of the trial: it remains to be seen if it will also land in the next few days, or if it is an initiative that Sony has decided to reserve only to the UK market.
