In the past few days, there have been further indications that Nintendo will announce a Switch Pro 4K model this year. According to insiders, there could be games that can only be played on the new model of the console.
For months the rumor has been going around that Nintendo is working behind the scenes on a new model of the Switch Pro that has significantly more powerful hardware than the previous versions. In the past few days, Bloomberg reported, citing project-related sources, that the new model of the Switch Pro will be released this year.
The features offered include support for 4K resolution in docked mode. There was also talk of a seven-inch OLED display. And while Nintendo remains silent on the rumors, we received more rumors about the supposed 4K model of the Switch shortly before the weekend.
In the Resetera forum, a user named Dark Cloud first spoke up, who had not yet appeared as a verified insider. As Dark Cloud reports, there are said to be select titles that will only appear for the new model of the Switch, while the old systems go away empty-handed. His statements are supported by the usually well-informed insider NateDrake.
NateDrake commented on this as follows: “There will be some select exclusives, especially from third-party partners. May not be a big number of them, but I know of at least one.” This approach would not be new, by the way. For example, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D was one of the titles that was released for the New Nintendo 3DS, but not for the previous models of the handheld.
As long as Nintendo remains silent on the rumors about the supposed Nintendo Switch Pro model, the information from the insiders should of course be taken with a grain of salt.
