In the course of the next few months, Electronic Arts could announce the return of the new Need for Speed series. To reveal it is the insider and journalist Tom Henderson, who over the last few hours has expressed a thought on a new chapter of the franchise, which could really be around the corner. According to the insider, the new Need for Speed title will release in Q3 2022 by the studio Criterion Games.
New Need for Speed To Release in September or October 2022
According to what was reported by Tom Henderson, Electronic Arts is expected to launch a new Need for Speed title between September and October of 2022. This is obviously not the latest news. Criterion Games was already working on a new chapter of the racing series (the last episode of which dates back to 2019) but the works have been paused in the course of 2021 to assist DICE in the development of Battlefield 2042.
Now that the new shooter, BF 2042, has been launched, however, the team would return to work on the IP. Obviously, at the moment we are still in the field of rumors and speculations, but in reality, there is a very good chance that the new Need for Speed can return later this year.
EA is expecting Need for Speed by Criterion Games to release in September/October 2022.

At the moment, there are no official announcements on the matter but considering the arrival of summer and its events such as E3 2022, Summer of Games and the classic EA Play fair organized by Redwood publishers, it is very likely that any information on the new chapter of the series may arrive at that time.
Aside from the new Need for Speed, Tom Henderson also talked about further news regarding other Electronic Arts games. The first is obviously Battlefield 2042, with the publisher who would not be absolutely happy with its performance.
EA is reportedly very disappointed with how Battlefield 2042 has performed and is "looking at all the options" when it comes to the title, this is including looking at Free to Play in some capacity.

The second one is Dragon Age 4 and in this case, it is not good news, since we are talking about a very distant launch window.
