Months ago there was the announcement of the return of Max Payne with the remakes of the first and second chapters, although both titles then disappeared into thin air. After Control and the upcoming Alan Wake 2, Remedy is also working on the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes, which seems to be a bigger project than expected. Check out all the information below.
Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes Will Be a ‘Big, Big Project’
After the announcement of Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes, which came with a flash release announced by Remedy itself, no further news about the games arrived. Now, after someone gave life to a fan remake of Max Payne 2 in Unreal Engine 5, it seems that perhaps something has moved regarding the two official remakes.
According to reports in fact, during an interview with VGC, Sam Lake of Remedy revealed that making the next remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 is no mean feat since there is a lot of work to do to bring them up to modern standards.
“It is a significant undertaking in the sense that even if they are old games, just thinking about bringing them up to modern standards and combining them into one, you can see that it’s a big, big project,” Sam Lake said in the interview.
When asked if he would play Max Payne again, Lake laughed and replied, “No comment! That’s going too far.”
From what we know the remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 will be released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in a single package, although there is no release date in sight yet. In April this year, Remedy confirmed that the games had moved into the proof-of-concept phase, so there’s still a long way to go.
