After the tremendous cinematic success that does not stop, John Wick will also return with a new AAA video game. While the saga continues to fall apart at the cinema, or on Blu-Ray, Lionsgate seems to have plans to expand the franchise further. Check out all the details below.
John Wick AAA Game Is In Development
Nor is it the first time that the assassin played by Keanu Reeves turns into a video game protagonist, as happened for the interesting John Wick Hex, a very interesting strategic title. Nor is it the first time that Lionsgate has been talking openly about expanding the franchise outside the cinema.
In the last meeting with investors, in fact, the production house illustrated the plans for the development of the intellectual property of John Wick. The meeting, according to the report, refers to a number of projects to be completed in the near future.
To a direct question from investors about the already mentioned possibilities of developing a AAA video game, Lionsgate provided further clarifications by explaining that “there is a lot of energy” around this idea:
We’re now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what the regular cadence of spin-offs, television really growing that universe so that there is a steady cadence of a franchise that there’s clear appetite by the audience. What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year. We’re in development on three others, including [John Wick 5] and including television series, The Continental, will be airing soon. And so, we’re building out the world and when that five movie comes, will be organic — will be organically grown out of how we’re starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick.
In short, it is clear that, after the aforementioned John Wick Hex, Lionsgate intends to try again to return to the gaming world.
