The Armor Rating is one of the stats for an Armor. It indicates the strength and the damage resistance of an Armor. But a higher Armor Rating doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a suitable choice for your playstyle and build. Instead, it also depends on the type of armor.

So, here are all the types of Armor in Helldivers 2:

  • Light: Lower Armor Rating
  • Medium: Balanced or Mid-armor rating
  • Heavy: Higher Armor Rating

If you are equipped a Light armor, your build will be much lighter and mobile. Although this might make you more susceptible to all the incoming attacks, you will gain faster movement speed. While having more mobility and versatility, this armor has lower armor ratings.

For those players that prefer a tankier build, you might want to go for heavy armor. This type of armor has a particularly high armor rating or value in Helldivers 2. However, it comes with the cost of speed and mobility. While making it less versatile, it deals more damage. If you are adept with melee attacks or any close-range combat, this might be a perfect choice for you.

Lastly, we recommend a Medium Armor rating if you prefer balanced gameplay.

Is the Armor Rating Broken?

Yes, the Armor Rating is currently broken in Helldivers 2 as many players have reportedly encountered this issue. Luckily, the devs at the Arrowhead Game Studio have acknowledged and are working to resolve this issue. As players upgrade their heavy or medium armor, the armor values aren’t affected due to the bug. This can be troublesome while surviving the higher difficulty levels.

We will update this guide as soon as more info is revealed. Until then, you can check out our guide on how to fix the Armor bug for more insight.
