When talking about the most popular racing games in the video game industry, you have to talk about the Need For Speed franchise, as Electronic Arts delivered many excellent installments over many years. As time went by, disappointing installments arrived, but last year a good one finally arrived with Need For Speed: Unbound and it seems that we won’t have to wait long for the next one, as a new game seems to be in development at Criterion Games studio, as per a job ad. Check out the complete information below.
New Need for Speed Game Reportedly in Development at Criterion Games
This week a job offer at LinkedIn from Criterion Games was discovered confirming that they are already working on a new Need For Speed, which is not surprising considering that more than half a year has passed since the release of the last installment. The job advertisement says they are looking for talent to take the Need For Speed franchise to the next level, but no further details about the project are given.
The Criterion Games vacancy that was found is for the position of World Artist, who will be in charge of building scenarios to build a new open world for players. This new employee would report to the Director of Environments, so the employee will be one of those in charge of building the new place where we will run in the new Need For Speed.
Although Criterion Games is currently in charge of the Need For Speed franchise and has been working on it since Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit in 2010, the studio originally became known as the developer of the Burnout games. And even though the Burnout titles had much more arcade gameplay, the studio’s expertise is present in Need For Speed: Unbound and its arcade gameplay.
Need For Speed: Unbound was released on November 29, 2022 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PlayStation 5, and PC. This month saw the arrival of Need For Speed: Unbound on the EA Play service and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, so subscribers to that service can play it on consoles, PC, and the cloud.
