Power Supply Requirement for Ryzen 5 5600X CPU Build

PSU or Power Supply ranges between 350watt to 2000watt units. Finding the best-recommended power supply for your build is an important decision. I will help you find the correct PSU (power supply) for Ryzen 5 5600X CPU in this guide. There are multiple models listed based on the build type. For example, there is a power supply requirement for a Ryzen 5 5600X Gaming Build or for a Ryzen 5 5600X Video Editing build. I have listed all possible builds in this guide.

Ryzen 5 5600X Gaming Build Power Supply Requirement:

Ryzen 5 5600X has 65watt of default TDP on the base specification. A base lock is 3.7 Ghz and you can get a boost up to 4.6Ghz. At the base level, the CPU is not really power-hungry. But when you couple it with other hardware like a powerful Graphic Card the power supply requirement changes. There are two lists below, the first is Ryzen 5 5600X PSU requirements with Nvidia RTX Series graphic cards. And second, with AMD graphic cards.

Ryzen 5 5600X with AMD Radeon GPU Minimum  PSU Requirement:

GPU Config PSU
RX 7900 XTX 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 850 watt
RX 7900 XT 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 750 watt
RX 680 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 750 watt
RX 6600 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 550 watt
RX 6700 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 650 watt
RX 6400 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 550 watt
RX 5700 XT 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 750 watt
RX 5500 XT 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 550 watt

Ryzen 5 5600X with Nvidia RTX GPU Minimum  PSU Requirement:

GPU Config PSU Requirement
RTX 4090 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 1000 watt
RTX 3080 Ti 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 850 watt
RTX 3060 Ti 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 650 watt
RTX 2080 Ti 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 750 watt
RTX 1660 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 550 watt
RTX 1080 Ti 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 650 watt
RTX 1060 32GB RAM + SSD + HDD 550 watt

For a gaming build a minimum 550watt is the best power supply to begin with. If you are going to put a GPU and a liquid cooler then extend the same to 650 watts. 550 watts is still manageable if are going to go with the base air cooler. For any other upgrade and for Ti cards which has overclocking abilities more power is required. For a high-end build anywhere above 850 watts will be better for improving the hardware life cycle. For mid-range 650 to 750 watts is the best power range. While lower-end systems focus on day-to-day usage, 550-watt PSU fits well with Ryzen 5 5600X.

The low Power supply can also lead to bottleneck issues. This means even after having high-end hardware your system is not performing up to the mark. There can be lags, reboots, or sluggish performance while using the same. You can try a Bottleneck Calculator to find out more about your system’s overall performance.
