Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake Is a ‘Maybe’ If the ‘Opportunity Comes’, Says Capcom

With the new version of Resident Evil 4 Remake on the horizon, Capcom is getting closer and closer to releasing remakes of the first four games in the main franchise. Many fans of the game are interested in whether the studio will apply the same remake treatment to spinoffs, such as Resident Evil Code Veronica. Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake Is a ‘Maybe’, Says Capcom

Resident Evil Code Veronica is one of those games that deserve an official remake, although Capcom doesn’t seem to have moved in that direction nor is it planning to, it seems.

Chronologically, Code Veronica takes place before Resident Evil 4 and although it is not part of the main franchise, it contributes a lot to the plot of the games. For now, we only have one fan-made remake, and Capcom doesn’t seem to be interested in developing a remake.

As reported via ResetEra, it seems that there are no plans for a remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica, therefore without a total makeover like those seen for the other chapters of the regular series.

The producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, questioned on the matter, in any case, wanted to leave the door slightly open, thus not making fans to lose hope entirely. Hirabayashi revealed that Capcom “has no concrete plans,” although he doesn’t close the door to this possibility in the future, if the “opportunity comes, maybe.”

Unfortunately, then, fans hoping to relive the adventures of Claire and Chris – originally released on SEGA Dreamcast and then ported to other platforms – better get their minds at peace, at least at the time of writing.

Looking at the rich catalog of Resident Evil games, there is no shortage of candidates for a remake. It remains to be seen what the plans are for the studio, which remains focused on the remake of Resident Evil 4, scheduled for release on March 24, 2023, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC.
